Uxmal iguana - close-upIn any given Mayan ruin you will likely meet some jolly iguanas who smile "¡bienvenidos!" at you as best they can.

Altamira oriole…here's an orange-and-black Altamira oriole.

…and a young Yucatan jay, with his black head, yellow legs and beak, and bright blue body. Yucatan jay, imm.

…a couple of indigo buntings.

 

 

Large cockroach is large…some jumbo-size, jungle-riffic cockroaches. Note this guy is safely on the OUTside of the hotel's window screen. Yeah, he's about 3 inches long and 1-1/4" wide. Watch where you walk at night.
