We rounded Cape Scott on my birthday, July 6, in an oncoming gale, with 15 knots wind behind us & a 5 foot chop. 3 days later we rounded Cape Cook, again facing a gale forecast, with 20 knots of W wind, a 6 foot chop, & an 8 second period. A 30 knot wind had been forecast-the gale did not arrive. After rounding, we raised sail & headed south, only to have the wind die to 5 knots, with a calm & flat sea. We are now in the Bunsby Islands for the next 4 days, waiting out a “cold air marine push.”
