Well – I almost burned the boat down today.  Had the pentometer set too low on the new PV charge controller.  The alternator dumped about 80 amps into the contr9oller, which divereted about half that to the resistance bank.  Unfortunately, I had located the resistance bank in the wrong place – right under a battery.  It heated up to about 150 degree right away, and fried a nylon strap securing the battery.  I was watching all of this happen….

Fortunately, I shut it all down and disconnnected the controler – and we went merrily on our way unregulated
